Chiku's first visit to Tatanagar

After staying in Kharagpur for around a week, it was time to visit Rashmi's parents in Tatanagar also known as Jamshedpur - after Jamshetji Nusserwanji Tata.

This was Chiku's second Train journey. We started off Kharagpur by Ispat Express at 8:35 in the morning. For the first time, maa came to station to see me off (yes, to see chiku off). Though she tried hard not to express her feelings - but it was seen very clearly from her face how sad she was.

This train journey was also very important for Chiku. This journey was short ( just 2 hours) - but without AC compartment, and with lots of noises like noises of train hitting tracks, people chatting, trains crossing each other - you dont get to hear these sounds when you are in AC compartment. So this was also something new to her. And she was completely puzzled - and again tried to analyze everything.

After an hour - she slept on Rashmi's lap and was sleeping till Tatanagar station came.

So, the second train journey was also very comfortable.

Ravi (Rashmi's sister's Husband) came to recieve us on Tatanagar Railyway Station. He was very delighted to see chiku - but chiku was not amused. This time she behaved like an irritating child. I think this is due to too much noise ion the train of which she is not used to.

We reached Rashmi's home around 11:30.

Holi - Festival of Colors

Chiku celebrated her first holi at Kharagpur। Everyone was excited - specially Mom .

होली के दिन सब लोग खरगपुर में थे - और ऐसा मौका बहुत दिन बाद मिला था जब मैं कोई फेस्टिवल में घर पे हूँ।

First Train Visit

Chiku was all set for maiden train journey on 9th March 2009.

We were very nervous as how she will cope up with 14 hour journey. But determined that she will love it.

We start from Nagpur on 9th Morning - by Azad Hind Express - 2029. Left nagpur at 10:20 AM in B1 - AC 3 Tier Coach.

Initial hours were cool - since it was first experience for Chiku - and she loved to analyze everything that was visible to her.

The afternoon journey from Durg to Jharsuguda has been very good since we had some good passengers to talk with. Chiku too played and enjoyed herself with them.

Chiku felt very confortable in the training. In the whole journey i never found her feeling annoyed, alienated, or feeling out of home. She enjoyed as she should at home. The only difference was AC. At home we dont have AC - and she loves AC.

Around 8:30 PM - after being tired of playing all day, Chiku finalled thought of retiring for the day. Had her big share of Milk and then went to sleep.

We reached Kharagpur aroung 2:45 AM on 10th March 2009. Train got delayed by 1 hour - It did not mattered to chiku since she was sleeping. Amit - a student at IIT Kharagpur - basically from Pune, Maharashtra, came to recieve us. Thanks to him for being wake so late, and coming to station to get us.

When the station arrived, and we planned to get down on platform - chiku woke up and started analysing everything she was seeing (platform, lights, people, train, etc).

We took the taxi, and went home where Mom was waiting to see her grand-daughter - CHIKU. As soon as entered home, Maa and chiku started playing.

This is how chiku spent her time in the very first train journey she travelled.
